Finding time for ourselves is vital to living a happy and fulfilling life. But how do we take better care of ourselves? It might take some time and experimentation for you to find your thing. Together with photographer Lisa VanderVelde, we’ve gathered a few activities we engage in on a regular basis to reduce stress and enhance our well-being.

“Go find your joy. Whatever that is, go find your joy. Are you going to have a good day or are you going to have a great day, because it’s completely up to you.”
– Sandra Bullock

Feel the sunshine on your skin

How wonderful it feels to do this and it can do such wonders to lift your spirits. This provides an instant natural recharge of your battery. Pull up your sleeves to catch some vitamin D and enjoy the illuminated world around you.

Have a beverage & read a book

Expand your knowledge. Reading is vital for remaining in tune with the mutable times. This can help with creativity and innovation. Escaping into a literary world can even ease tension in the muscles and lower heart rate.

Bake & Nourish

Channel all the negative energy into creating something positive. Baking is a simple and repetitive process which means it can have a calming, meditative quality. Plus you can give away your creations and make others happy too.

Pet a friendly animal

Pets are acutely attuned to our behaviour and emotions. Spending time with a pet elevates serotonin and dopamine levels, which calm and relax. Petting fulfills the basic human need to touch and can ease loneliness.

Adventure & Explore

Calm your mind down. Practicing activities for your physical well-being increases your energy levels and boosts your self-esteem. It encompasses health, movement and stimulates your mind.
