Honey Face Mask
½ cup of coconut oil
¼ cup of raw honey
¼ cup of brown sugar
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
Juice ½ a lemon
Coconut oil is moisturizing and has antimicrobial properties. Raw honey is a good source of antioxidants, is antibacterial and anti-fungal. Brown sugar exfoliates dead skin cells and hydrates the skin, giving skin a shiny glow. Cinnamon helps to heal acne. It contains anti-fungal, antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties which make it useful to treat skin blemishes. Cinnamon also supports blood flow to the skin. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and citric acid, so it can help brighten your skin and tighten pores when used over time.
Place the ingredients in a bowl and mix together well. Store in a jar with an airtight lid at room temperature. To use, wash your face well. Apply a small amount of mask to damp skin and massage gently in a circular motion. Avoid the eye area. Leave the mask on for approximately 15-30 minutes and rinse with cool water.
2 cups of water
1 green tea sachet
¼ cup seedless rosehip
¼ cup dry hibiscus flower
Rosewater has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the redness of irritated skin. It also helps maintain the skin’s pH balance, and can control excess oil. Green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties which make it an effective treatment for acne and oily skin.
You will need a spray bottle and something to brew your tea in. Steep ¼ cup of dry rosehip and dry hibiscus with 1 sachet of green tea in 2 cups of water. Bring hot water to a boil and place tea sachet and rosebuds in hot water allowing it to steep for 5 minutes. Let it cool and pour into a spray bottle. Add a tablespoon of dry rosebuds to the spray bottle.
Store up to 6 months in the fridge.
Brown Sugar Lip Scrub
½ tablespoon olive oil
1 dash of ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Olive oil can prevent sun damage. Cinnamon stimulates blood circulation which acts as a lip plumper. Brown sugar is gentler than salt, and softer than granulated sugar. It smoothes and shines the lips.
Pour ½ tablespoon of olive oil into a small mixing container. Add remaining ingredients and mix together well. Store in a small container with an airtight lid at room temperature. Apply this to your lips in a circular motion and you may either wipe it off or lick it off, it tastes great!
