4 things you can do to boost self-confidence.

We’ve all met that person who seems to just ooze confidence and self assurance. They look like they have the perfect life from the outside and even when things go wrong, they handle it with grace and dignity. Of course, we only ever see what people want us to see but I’m sure you’ve wondered at least once or twice how you can snag some of those feel-good vibes about yourself. Confidence can be a tricky thing, especially if you don’t feel especially strong, smart or interesting.

The cool thing about confidence though is that it comes entirely from you. You have the power to shape how you feel about yourself and your life and today I’ve included some of my favorite tips and tricks on how to feel your absolute best even if you don’t think you’re cutting it.
Clean up your space.

It’s amazing how put together and confident you feel when your space reflects how you want others to view you. It’s easy to fall into a low mood and diminished feelings of self worth when the laundry’s piled high and you can’t see over the stack of dirty dishes. So, pick up your space, fluff the pillows and seriously, dust your TV. With a fresh space you’ll be able to think more clearly and you’ll get the added endorphin rush of a job well done.

Visualize yourself as you want to be.

A lot of self confidence issues come from perceived flaws that we have, things we don’t think we have or things we don’t feel are good enough. Try a visualization exercise where you imagine yourself exactly as you want to be. Perhaps traveling is your passion, so envision yourself smiling and excited while climbing the Alps. Or, if you want to be a rockstar entrepreneur, envision yourself giving an interview to a big time reporter about how successful your business is. That sense of accomplishment will transfer over into your real life and motivate you to go get those goals!

Smile more.

Smiling automatically activates the feel good centers in your brain to give you a boost of energy and satisfaction. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between a fake smile and a genuine one, all it knows is that you’re smiling so you must be in a good mood! This also has the bonus effect of making the people around you feel relaxed and comfortable too, fostering deeper connections.

Connect with the people around you.

While self confidence does come from the inside, external validation can go a long way toward boosting those feelings. Now, I’m not talking about getting 100 likes on Instagram, that kind of validation doesn’t count. Forging genuine, lasting relationships with your peers absolutely helps you feel like the kind of person who deserves to have a strong sense of happiness within themselves.

Just remember that you are a person who’s deserving of great things and that includes feeling amazing about who you are and what you contribute to the world. You don’t have to be doing incredible, social media worthy things to be a kind, generous, worthwhile person. All you have to do is keep your head high, take care of the important things and the rest will come.
